Using Orbseer

Orbseer is free to read. You may link to any page, quote our cards and numbers with attribution ("Orbseer, date"), and use the public data files for research and journalism. Please link to the card rather than copying the dossier, so readers can see the live version and its evidence.

What the numbers are

Every measurement is computed by software from public sources under the published method, with a stated version and a confidence. They are not statements about whether a story is true. Use them as what they are: a record of who said what, when, and who owns the voices repeating it.

What you may not do

• Present Orbseer's numbers as a verdict on truth, or as an endorsement or condemnation of anyone.
• Remove the method version, the date or the confidence from a quoted figure.
• Scrape the site at a rate that harms it; use the data files instead.
• Use the data to profile private individuals.

Headlines and links

Headlines, quoted spans and thumbnails belong to the outlets that published them and are shown as short excerpts with links, as evidence of what was published. Full articles are never reproduced.

Liability

Orbseer is provided as is. We publish our measured accuracy and our known limits, and we correct errors under the process on the standards page. We are not liable for decisions made on the basis of the site.
